Charting in Family Tree Maker (FTM)

Design a Family Tree Maker chart
  1. Start Family Tree Maker
  2. Construct the desired chart.
  3. Save the chart as a "Saved View".
  4. Download a SCEYA Charting Request Form.
  5. Edit the Charting Request Form.
  6. Send the completed form and the latest FTW file to SCEYA.
SCEYA can design a chart for you

The charting services of SCEYA can create charts from a GEDCOM file or FTM data set that you may not have thought possible. SCEYA may import your data into another package to produce the desired chart. (NOTE: The GEDCOM method may lose vital data in the process.)

Examine the styles of standard charts available here.

OR - Describe a special chart for your needs here.

    Family Tree Maker charting topics
  • The types of charts FTM available
    • Ancestor chart
      • Standard box chart (bottom to top)
      • Vertical box chart (left to right)
      • Fan (circular)
    • Descendant box chart
      • Standard box chart (top to bottom)
      • Fan (circular)
    • Hourglass
      • Standard box chart (top to bottom)
      • Fan (circular - ancestors at top)
  • Chart size and printing limits
Just because you can see a FTM chart on a computer screen, that does not mean that it can be printed correctly on a custom page size. FTM has poor control and use of "custom page size" in wide format printers. This leads to limitations on the size of chart that can be produced without some corruption. The introduction of the PDF output option within FTM has imposed other limits on the maximum page size that can be specified for normal wide format printing.
